Manchester Utd FC was formed in 1878, as Newton Heath. They play their home games at Old Trafford in Greater Manchester. Apart from the 1974/75 season they have been in the top flight of English football every year since 1938.
They are the current English Champions and under manager Alex Ferguson, they have won no less than 22 major honours since he became the clubs manager in 1986.
Manchester Utd FC were the first English club to win the European Cup in 1968 and they have won it on two further occasions.
Other honours include winning the FA Cup 11 times, the League Cup 3 times and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup once.
Previous famous players have included Bobby Charlton, George Best, Bryan Robson, Steve Bruce, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Roy Keane, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo.
